Southgate Mall fire line fails

MUSCLE SHOALS - City officials met today regarding the failed fine line that serves Southgate Mall.

The line failed Monday night and the building and tenants do not have fire sprinkler protection, officials said.

The city fire marshal has 19 documented failures of the line since 2019. After much discussion, it was decided that occupancy and operation of these businesses could not continue until the landlord fulfills the obligation of repair of the fire suppression system.
